[ale] text becomes distorted and scrolls off screen at an angle

erm, sounds to me like a setting on your monitor.  Play with the little
knobs (like the ones for raster and sidepin) and see if that doesnt
correct the problem.  Software isnt going to start making text scroll
off the screen at weird angles...
