I'm using the "Zip zoom SCSI accelerator" which is actually a ROM-less
aha1502e or something like that. My RH4.2/2.0.35 kernel definitely can't
find it, and hangs the system when it tries. I took the coward's way out
and provided the correct options in /etc/conf.modules:

options aha152x "aha152x=0x140,10"

I force-load the module in rc.local at boot (pretty small, it seemed to
me), and can unload or reload it manually when I turn the device
[scanners] off and on.

You may come up with a smoother approach, but I figured for a single user
and a $50 card, I could live with it.
