StarOffice provides and wants a "Star Office Profile" to be used to help
launch StarOffice version 3.  This "profile" will set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH
variable to include the StarOffice libraries which you name as lib*312.*
Let me know if you want me to forward you a copy of an SO profile.

I can't help with your mouse problem - RH's worked fine with the various
mouse-types I've tried.
