[ale] Newbie Question

I am creating my first kernel since installing RH 5.1 last week.  I am
trying to up my kernel to 2.0.36 as well as add support for ip masquerading.
I followed directions in Special Edition Using Linux - Fourth Edition and
all seemed fine until I tried to update LILO.  The error I get is:

    Kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.0.36-1 is too big

My previous kernel was ~4mb this one appears to be ~12mb.  What am I doing
wrong?
