Did not XF86 have a dos port at one time?  Is it still available?

Another X-server datapoint, not quite free, but $49.95 for single user.

I use X/Deep-32 from www.pexus.com.  Quite stable, lots of features,
comes with common xclient apps, supports multiple windowing modes.

MI/X is only $25, but the single-window mode is really annoying.
