aiight, hopefully my third attempt will pass the mail filters here...
ignore any strange characters; they're for filter coping reasons.

well, since you asked...
personally, i think if anyone wants info from us, they can s*bscribe. if they
think further info is useless to them, they can then uns*bscribe. it seems
some people differ in opinions, though. some say moderation, some say just
let it all through. i propose this:
if someone wants to send a letter to the list for insight, and really has
something against temporarily s*bscribing to it, he (or she for all you
politically correct people out there) can send the e-mail to a certain
person's e-mail address. this certain person is on the list. this person
looks at the mail, and if he (or she) decides it's worthy of being submitted
to the list (i.e. not a spam, or someone saying "tee hee, linux s*x" or
whatever (though you may want to let the latter through, as the sender
actually went through the trouble of finding out what the acronym means))...
he forwards it in. Now, the return address on this mail is the e-mail address
of the original sender.... but the from address is of the original sendee, so
it can get through to our MEMBERS-ONLY list. the mail header setup can be
done with a relatively simple script, or quite easily implemented into a
..muttrc file, for anyone using mutt.
sound like a plan to anyone else?
we'll need a volunteer, btw... i'd say i'd do it, but i take occasional long
bouts away from my computer (and home) without telling anyone... and i don't
think that would be too appreciated.
oh, hi again, by the way... not that anyone missed me.....
