There's been a discussion about Dell's Linux solution on another list
I'm subscribed.  Unfortunately, Dell will charge you an additional $250
for a Linux solution and requires a minimum of 50 machines.  Some of the
folks on the other list think this might be a 'stealth' project of Dell
and Microsoft.  Point is, most Linux people would buy the Windows loaded
hardware from Dell, install their own Linux and save the $250.
Therefore, Dell can say: "Hey we tried to preload Linux, but no one
would buy it." I personally think it sucks for Dell to charge this....

I just now called Dell (business solutions) and was told they do not
offer a Linux pre-loaded system, but that they will sell a system that
is pre-certified for Linux.  That is, a system without an OS, but that
is certified to run Linux.  That to me, is better than the $250
approach, as I would hope that a system such as this, you're not paying
the MS tax for an OS you're not getting.
