Again, BellSouth is going to stick it to the uninitiated.  I'd suspect
that the majority of Linux user's have a NIC, and those that don't, know
what it is and how to purchase/install one. What other hardware is
included in this $200?

On the form on their web site they ask you:

PC users only, do you have an available expansion slot in your PC for an
Ethernet card?

Macintosh users only, do you have an installed, available ethernet
network interface card?

So, they're willing to let Mac users use an existing NIC, but not a PC
user?

 They're trying to lock people into contracts because they know
RoadRunner is headed this way.
