[ale] SMB and Win98

Greetings.

We've got Winblows 98 (The Litigation Operating System) running here (not
my choice) and are having a hell of a time getting it to mount a Samba
drive off a Redhat 5.0. Any attempt to connect to the Samba server (let's
call it arrakis) from the 98 box (let's call it sandworm) presents a
dialog to enter the \\ARRAKIS\IPC$ password (Oh, yeah. Linux is _far_ more
cryptic that Winblows. Whatever.) From a 95 box, entering the Unix
password on arrakis of the user you're logged in as presents a list of
available shares. From the 98 box, entering the same password presents an
"Incorrect Password" error. Entering any case variation on the password
yields the same error....

So, has Microsuck changed the (heh) "Common Internet File System" (blech)
spec for '98?
