[ale] file systems sync

Do anyone have a idea about the best way to keep two file systems in
sync?  This might appear to be a easy question to some of you, but I am
looking for a way to keep a local copy of a remote smb file system.  let
face it, expecting the NT box in question to remian running is a bit
much.

I am currently using a cron job(s) and a perl script.  However this is
at most a hourly job.
