[ale] Sound problems on SB Vibra 16.

Greetings,
I have a GW2K E-3110 that came with a SoundBlaster Vibra 16. I'm running
RedHat 5.0 on it. sndconfig works, /dev/sndstat reports that I have a
Sound Blaster 16, and cat /usr/share/sndconfig/sample.au > /dev/audio
greets me with Linus telling me how to pronounce Linux with no problems
whatsoever.
Attempts to play an MP3, however, fail. Both mpg123 and x11amp will load
and begin decoding, but no audio will play. The progress slider in x11amp
does not move. mpg123 stops processing at frame 16. mpg123 will, however,
complete decoding of an MP3 to stdout, so I suspect the audio.
The mixer works properly. Sound playing on the same system under Windows
works fine. Has anyone had similar trouble with the SB Vibra 16 under RH5?
