[ale] Odd Netscape Errors, Possible Joiliet (sp?) Problem?

I don't know anything about Joliet, but for what it's worth:

Only the owner specified in the mount (8) command (or
root, by default) gets write access to a FAT filesystem, it
seems. I don't know why this is so, but somebody must
have thought it was a good idea.

In the mount (8) man page, it describes some special options for
FAT filesystems, one of which (maybe -o?) says, in effect, "Pretend
all files on the mounted filesystem are owned by the specified
user." If you use that option and specify your uid, you should be able
to write files on the volume. This sucks if multiple users need
write access to the volume, of course. Oh well.

  Since I enabled fat32 on my system so that I could use my 4Gig drive as
a single drive I get the following error:

"Can't open Inbox.  You may not have permission to write to this file.

First, Where is the Inbox:

Second, What is the condition of that mounted file system:

Third, How is it mounted:
  {0}:dogbert:/scsi2>mount
  .
  .
  /dev/sdb1 on /scsi2 type vfat (rw,umask=000)
  .
  .

Fourth, What is the condition of the Inbox?
  {0}:dogbert:/scsi2/apps/netscape/Users/nomad/Mail>ls -la Inbox
  -rwxrwxrwx   1 root     root      1398133 Nov 22 21:04 Inbox


As you can see, the actual Inbox is World Readable and World Writeable.
I tried this as root and I get the same problem.  Anyone have any ideas?
Anything I've missed?
