Depends on what you are doing. I found a noticable improvement in interactive response when I set my MTU to 296 (256 bytes of data plus header). This is on a 28.8kbps link under Linux 1.2.13. However, if bulk transfer speed is your concern, sticking with the default or larger is likely a better choice. YMMV - Ken
