[ale] re: deleting mail

Can someone tell me how to delete an outgoing mail message.  I've got
one that has been getting an error everytime it tries to send.  I removed
the files under /var/spool/mqueue associated with it, but there is
obviously another reference to it because sendmail complains that it
can send the mail because the files are missing.  Where else is this
referenced?
