\n“Toward a Robust Domain Naming System”

\nSynopsis:
\n— As automatic and invisible as they may seem to the average
\ninternet user, reliable network Domain Name Services don’t just
\nhappen. From enterprise service providers to home networks,
\ngood design in domain naming and DNS management are essential
\ncomponents of a stable and secure network. Drawing on recent
\npapers presented for IBM-ISS, the talk will cover the design and
\nimplementation considerations of setting up robust deployments
\nof Domain Name Services, including some forensic thoughts on
\nthe AT&T debacle of a few months back.<\/p>\n

Bio:
\n— Michael Warfield is a Senior Researcher and Analyst for the X-Force
\nManaged Security Services of IBM Internet Security Systems.
\n— With computer security experience dating back to the early 1970s and
\nUnix experience dating back to the early 1980s, Mike is responsible for
\ndoing research into security vulnerabilities and intrusion protection
\ntechniques for IBM-ISS X-Force.
\n— Prior to joining ISS, now IBM-ISS, Mike has held positions such as, a
\nUnix systems engineer, Unix consultant, security consultant and network
\nadministrator on the Internet. He is one of the resident Unix gurus at
\nthe Atlanta UNIX Users Group and is one of the founding members of the
\nAtlanta Linux Enthusiasts. He is also an active member of the Samba
\ndevelopment team and is a contributor to the Linux Kernel and numerous
\nOpen Source Software projects. Mike has published articles on both
\nSamba and on Security and is a respected cryptographer in the Open
\nSource community.<\/p>\n
