\nI’m thrilled to announce that our ALE Central meeting for
\n7:30pm on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 will be following our
\ntraditional format and will be held at our long running
\nRoom 1C venue at Emory Law School’s Gambrel Hall.

\nUsing OpenVPN in a Monitored World
\n<\/font>
\npresented by Brian MacLeod <\/p>\n

Synopsis:<\/strong>
\n— If there’s one thing the government folks can’t stand, it
\nis lots of work for little reward. Most of us will never be
\ninteresting targets, and while many would say we’re safe
\nbecause of that, it doesn’t hurt to help protect yourself in
\nwhatever way you can.
\n— I hope to prepare anyone looking to add a little secure
\nnetworking with advice on deploying OpenVPN in ways
\nthat help make it harder for your information stream to be
\ncaptured and sifted or otherwise subjected to unwarranted
\nand malicious access.<\/p>\n

Bio:<\/strong>
\n— Brian MacLeod is a Systems Engineer at the Georgia
\nInstitute of Technology, supporting research on high
\nperformance computing resources with the Partnership
\nfor Advanced Computing Environment (PACE) team.<\/p>\n

\nThe meeting will be held at Emory Law School in our
\nusual Gambrel Hall, room 1C venue.
\nOur meeting time frame is 7:30pm to ~9:20pm

\n**An important note that this will very likely be the last
\ntime we will be able to host an ALE Central Meeting or
\nspecial event at this venue. Emory Law School’s newest
\nfacilities management has decided to end the good will
\npolicy of support for the wider local community and will
\nnow be restricting facility use to Law School activities
\nexclusively.<\/p>\n

Emory Law School, through the ongoing support and
\ninvolvement of ALE member Ben Chapman in their IT
\ndepartment, has been generously providing ALE with
\nunused classroom space for meetings and special
\nevents for more than ten years. We have been
\nexceptionally fortunate in receiving this long running
\nsupport for our organization and deeply appreciate
\neveryone at Emory Law School who has helped with
\nthese arrangements over the years.
