\n<\/font>with Orlando Karam<\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/strong>
\n– Amazon Web Services are among the most popular
\n“infrastructure-as-a-service” offerings on the internet;
\nthey let you easily run Linux (and other OSs) as virtual
\nmachines on Amazon’s infrastructure. In this talk, we
\nwill give a brief introduction to capability and pricing,
\nand talk about how to start VMs from the web or from
\nscripts with the boto python library.

\nSpeaker Bio:<\/strong>
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u201c Orlando Karam was born in the US but grew up in
\nMexico. He got hooked up with Unix while a grad student
\nat Tulane University, and has been running Linux on
\nservers and laptops for more than 15 years. He teaches
\ncomputer science at Southern Polytechnic State University,
\nand is starting to use AWS for research and development.<\/p>\n
