{"id":310,"date":"2012-09-13T22:20:48","date_gmt":"2012-09-14T02:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ale.org\/?p=310"},"modified":"2012-09-14T17:29:30","modified_gmt":"2012-09-14T21:29:30","slug":"ale-central-mtg-for-thurs-sept-20th-730pm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ale.org\/?p=310","title":{"rendered":"ALE CENTRAL MTG. for Thurs., Sept. 20th, 7:30pm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> The featured presentation for our ALE CENTRAL<br \/>\nmeeting on Thursday, Sept. 20th, 2012 at 7:30pm will be<br \/>\na reprise of Orlando Karam&#8217;s excellent presentation from<br \/>\nALE-NW in August:<font size=\"+2\"><\/p>\n<p>Linux on ARM and the Raspberry Pi <\/font><\/p>\n<p>Abstract:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8212; ARM is a family of computer architectures, different from x86,<br \/>\nand characterized for its low cost and low power consumption.<br \/>\nMany cell-phones and tablets run on ARM, and now there are many<br \/>\nlow-cost low-power servers running on ARM. We will discuss some<br \/>\nof the available hardware and the status of the software, with a<br \/>\nspecial focus on the Raspberry-Pi, a $35 computer system designed<br \/>\nwith a focus on education, but useful on many domains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bio:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8212; Orlando Karam was born in the US but grew up in Mexico.
