Key points include:<br \/>\n=> Understanding the seven most deadly sins<br \/>\n=> Password issues<br \/>\n=> Open network ports<br \/>\n=> Insecure and badly configured programs<br \/>\n=> How to protect against new unforseen vulnerabilities<br \/>\n=> The trade-offs between security and convenience<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u201c Participants will learn how to decide what software to install while<br \/>\ninstalling Linux and how to harden a Linux system after the installation<br \/>\nto greatly reduce the likelihood of a break-in. This presentation is<br \/>\nunique in that a few key techniques will be explained that allow any<br \/>\nSysAdmin \u00e2\u20ac\u201d newbie or with decades of experience \u00e2\u20ac\u201d to harden a desktop,<br \/>\nlaptop, or server in an hour or two so that it will be orders of magnitude<br \/>\nmore difficult to compromise.<\/p>\n<p>Bio:<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u201c Mr. Bob Toxen is author of Real World Linux Security Second Edition, 848pp<br \/>\npublished by Prentice Hall PTR. He is a world-class expert on Linux and<br \/>\nUNIX security and mixed-OS network security using Linux.
