\nfor Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at 7:30pm will be
\n“Defining the Third Tier in Personal Computing”<\/font>
\npresented by avid computer technology historian
\nand collector, David Greelish<\/strong><\/p>\n

Synopsis:
\n— The presentation will be exploring the question of
\n“What is the third tier in personal computing?”.
\nThe first tier was the desktop computer. The second tier
\nwas defined by the laptop, but what exactly is the third
\ntier? This personal computing category has been largely
\nindeterminate for over two decades and defining it
\npresents some interesting challenges. David will also be
\ndiscussing computer history in general,\u00c2\u00a0showcasing a few
\nsignificant desktop computers, a number of handheld
\nand palmtop \/ PDAs, with Q & A welcomed.<\/p>\n

Bio:
\n— David Greelish is a long time computer history enthusiast
\nand collector. He started the Historical Computer Society in
\n1992, and began creating a newsletter about old computers
\nin 1993 called\u00c2\u00a0Historically Brewed. He now runs
\nclassiccomputing.com<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0where he blogs, produces
\na video podcast, and is recording an excellent book into a
\nfree audio book podcast -\u00c2\u00a0Stan Veit’s History of the Personal
\nComputer. David has also started creating a local user group
\nto meet and play with vintage machines, and is planning to
\nstart the first annual Classic Computing Expo next year.<\/p>\n
