\nAs a departure from our usual meeting format
\n(since schedules didn’t mesh for securing a feature
\npresentation), our ALE Central Meeting for 7:30pm
\non Thursday, JUNE 17th will be taking the form of: <\/p>\n

An Open Discussion on Desirable Distros:
\nMeasuring Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (& Derivatives)
\nAgainst the Many Viable Alternatives <\/font><\/p>\n

presented by the informed, fair minded opinons of
\nour many ALE Linux Distro Connoisseurs,
\n — AND —
\nAccompanied by Ample Supplies of Ubuntu 10.04
\nDesktop, Server and Kubuntu discs (courtesy of
\nNick Ali via Canonical). <\/strong><\/p>\n

Synopsis:
\n— The Desirable Distro Discussion will kick off with a
\nbrief, informal presentation on the fabulous features
\nand faulted frailties of the latest Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
\nrelease, including some comparisons to the Linux MINT
\nUbuntu derivative distro. From there we will open the
\nmic, the podium and the projector to anyone wishing
\nto display or discuss their own preferences in Linux
\ndistributions and software bundles. Demonstrations
\nof alternative desktops, window managers, widgets
\nand system extensions will also be welcome.<\/p>\n

ALE Event Coordinator (etc) Aaron Ruscetta will
\npresent the introductory Ubuntu evaluations and
\nserve as moderator for the discussions.<\/p>\n

We will be meeting at our usual venue, Emory Law School,
\nGambrel Hall, room 1C. Meeting time frame is 7:30pm to ~9:30pm,
\n(though we may adjourn to Meltons App & Tap for continutation
\nof the discussions a little earlier than usual).
