All Bad Puns, Geek Toys, Robots, Friends and Family<br \/>\nare welcome, with a special encouragement to invite anyone who<br \/>\nmay be interested in learning more about Linux and GPL Open<br \/>\nSource Software in a casual setting.  Opportunities for informal<br \/>\nGeek Gadget show and tell talks are also part of the plans.<br \/>\n&#8212;  Provided refreshments may be limited, so guest contributions<br \/>\nof snacks and beverages will be welcome. Coolers, Ice and Cups<br \/>\nbe on hand, with the possibility of an abundance of SWAG.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plus a GNU OSS Pecha Kucha Contest:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8212; As topical entertainment for the evening everyone is encouraged<br \/>\nto participate in our Geek version of a Karaoke contest and provide<br \/>\na (modified) <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pecha_Kucha\">Pecha Kucha<\/a> style presentation on a Linux or Open<br \/>\nSource related topic (with the understanding that the relationship<br \/>\nto Open Source is Open to personal interpretation).<br \/>\n&#8211; In the ALE adaptation of the Pecha Kucha model, presenters are<br \/>\nallotted 10 minutes at the microphone and up to 20 computer slides<br \/>\nor mixed media elements in order to fully enlighten the audience<br \/>\nwith absolutely all the salient information there is to know about their<br \/>\nOpen Source related topic.  After all the Pecha Kucha presenters<br \/>\nare done, the audience will select the winning presentation of the<br \/>\nevening and an appropriate prize will be awarded.<br \/>\n&#8212; Anyone planning to participate in the Pecha Kucha contest is<br \/>\nasked to please inform the Event Planner of this via email to<br \/>\narxaaron @gmail.com.  They should also see AV Support**<br \/>\nnotes below.<\/p>\n<p>=============<br \/>\nWe will be meeting at Emory Law School in our usual<br \/>\nGambrel Hall, room 1C venue. Meeting time frame is<br \/>\n7:30pm to ~9:30pm  Directions to Emory Law School<br \/>\ncan be found <a href=\"http:\/\/mail.ale.org\/?page_id=2\">[here]<\/a><br \/>\n&#8212; Festivities may continue post meeting with a<br \/>\nSolstice drum circle, a warming fire, and similarly<br \/>\ninteresting activities at the nearby Railroad Earth<br \/>\nStudios facilities.<\/p>\n<p>=====<br \/>\n** AV Support:<br \/>\nA VGA RGB data projector, an amplified microphone and a sound system<br \/>\nconnection (1\/8&#8243; mini stereo) will be provided for Pecha Kucha presenters.<br \/>\nA Linux laptop (single screen) with Ubuntu 9.04 installed and a Mac G4<br \/>\niBook (with DVD player and support for most media file formats) will also<br \/>\nbe available. Computer Slides should be compatibly formatted in OOo<br \/>\nImpress presentation format or as a series of jpg, png or pdf files. There<br \/>\nis also a document camera for displaying hard copy items or smallish<br \/>\nphysical objects like Geek Gadgets.<br \/>\n=====<\/p>\n<p>All offers to provide refreshments, amusements, SWAG or more<br \/>\nsignificant Pecha Kucha Contest Prizes are welcome.
